Got Questions?

Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about the Live Money Bootcamp? Our FAQs answer common course and money-related asks!

What Do Most People in Class Achieve? What's The Return on My Time?

Surveys from the Office of Women’s Careers show that 75% of participants take action during the course. While results vary, most women cut unnecessary spending, boost their 403(b) contributions, move idle cash into an investment account, or create a plan to pay down debt faster. Many do several of these.

Even small changes can make a big difference. For example, investing just $500 more per month in a 403(b) or IRA could grow to over $566K in 30 years.

Can I Take The Class if I Do Not Identify as a Woman?

Yes! While the class is hosted by the Office of Women's Careers, it is open to everyone.

How Do I Receive Reimbursement For The Class Fee From MGH?

All MGPO-paid employees are eligible for a $1,500 financial planning benefit every three years—and the Her Personal Finance course qualifies for reimbursement. You can find more details on the MGH website (login required).

To get reimbursed, just submit your class receipt and certificate of completion to the MGPO office. Full instructions are provided during the final two weeks of class.

What's The Time Commitment?

The live class is 1-hour every week with about 1-3 hours / homework each week (some weeks have minimal homework and others have more). All the classes are recorded and many participants miss some classes and catch up via the recording. The live class also includes a 30-minute one-on-one, and homework review of three assignments which may involve more follow up questions and research to help you make better financial decisions.

What's Included?

Live Class: 10-weeks of live classes and a workbook of all class assignments. The course also includes individual review of three homework assignments including your monthly spending, your current net worth and your retirement projections. Finally, you receive a 30-minute one-on-one to answer all your questions individually.
